Project Engineer

Reports to: Regional Manager

Primary Purpose: Performs engineering/scientific tasks and project fieldwork. Plans and manages projects to ensure profitability.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs engineering/scientific tasks and project fieldwork requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria where there are relatively few complex features for which there are precedents. Provides documentation of efforts and outcomes.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated project to ensure that goals or objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.
  • Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
  • Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel. Monitors and tracks project performance.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • Preparing bids/estimates/quotes.
  • Ensures the quality of work meets customer specifications and standards of good work practices.
  • Oversees several jobs in progress.
  • Serves as the main project liaison for interdisciplinary groups involved in the project (i.e. permitting, field operations, disposal, etc.).
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
  • Coordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Required Education/Experience:

BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering is required, PE certification preferred. Detailed knowledge of Federal, State, and local safety and environmental regulations. 1-3 years of experience is preferred.

Must possess proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel software programs, as well as have experience with Internet resources. AutoCAD experience a plus.

Required Skills:

Requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Will write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Works with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Required Training:

8-hour safety orientation, 40-hour HAZWOPER training, other training as required.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift and carry file boxes and other awkward items weighing up to 25 lbs, including up and down stairs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday. Subject to frequent interruptions.

Work Environment:

Periodic site visits and extensive work outside the local area on field assignments. May work outside and in inclement weather conditions is required, including heat, cold, and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Must be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by established Company Safety standards, including the occasional use of a respirator. Must be able and willing to enter into and work in confined and dark spaces, as well as in small boats, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.

Emergency Response Managers/Project Managers Wanted

We are seeking motivated, self-starting team players with excellent project management, supervising, operating, and leadership skills.

Qualified candidates will be integral to emergency response and environmental remediation projects in a fast paced, ever changing environment and must have a minimum of 7 years experience, excellent references, and the ability to perform the following daily functions: estimating, implementation of work plans, meeting deadlines, project documentation, site safety, quality assurance, problem solving, regulatory compliance, subcontractor and supplier scheduling/administration, and teambuilding.

The ideal candidate will excel in customer service and developing new business utilizing established local contacts and relationship building skills. College degree preferred. Construction industry experience, environmental experience, quality management, cost tracking skills, knowledge of financial processes a plus.

Construction Site Personnel

We are seeking motivated, self-starting team players throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic with excellent supervising, operating, and leadership skills. Available positions include Superintendent, Foreman, CDL Driver, Heavy Equipment Operator, Clerk, Technician, Asbestos & Lead Abatement Personnel.

Qualified candidates will be integral to emergency response and environmental remediation projects in a fast paced, ever changing environment, and must have a minimum of 5 years experience, excellent references, and the ability to perform the following daily functions: implementation of work plans, meeting deadlines, project documentation, site safety, quality assurance, problem solving, regulatory compliance, subcontractor and supplier scheduling/administration, and teambuilding.

The ideal candidate will excel in quality customer service. Construction industry experience, environmental experience, quality management, cost tracking skills, CDL, knowledge of financial processes a plus. Must be responsible, detail oriented team player and be able to work flexible hours and travel as necessary. Work includes handling hazardous materials and use of personal protective equipment.

A Drug Screen and pre-employment physical are required. Competitive pay and benefits for qualified candidates.

Administrative Manager

Successful candidate will assist the Regional Manager and must have a minimum of 10 years administrative management experience in a fast paced environment. Must have excellent references, a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access), extensive experience working with spreadsheets and databases, and the ability to perform the following administrative functions:

  • Administrative support to Regional Manager and branch managers;
  • Liaison with regional staff and corporate staff in Charlotte, North Carolina;
  • Technical document and proposal review and editing;
  • Personnel record keeping and payroll assistance;
  • Report preparation (i.e., pre- and post-job submittals);
  • Administer petty cash account;
  • Order office supplies and repair/order office equipment;
  • Maintain regional calendar;
  • Maintain project, equipment/vehicle, and administrative files and assure all documents are property filed;
  • Supervise administrative staff;
  • Arrange travel and special events;
  • Coordinate A/R and A/P functions for region;
  • Answer busy multi-line phone system.

Contract administration, legal documents, and financial processes experience is a plus. Position requires strong organizational skills and ability to work flexible hours as necessary. The successful candidate will be comfortably adept in a fast-paced environment; capable of multi-tasking; a self-starter who can accomplish assignments without need of close supervision; skilled in interpersonal dealings; professional yet personable; a skilled communicator, written and oral; and a team player.
